INFORMATION, POLICY & RECITALS

GENERAL RULE: Dance Gallery prides itself on its family-like
atmosphere and is run on an open door policy. Please feel free to approach Miss
Rose at any time with any concerns or feedback you may have. Dance Gallery
depends on its parents and teachers to make it a positive learning ground for
our dancers and with everyone's help, we can make it
the best that it can be.
HANDBOOK: We have created
a handbook, given to each student, in an effort to clarify what we expect from
students and parents in terms of commitments and responsibility to the studio; so please review it
and keep it handy.
CLASSROOM BEHAVIOR: No gum, food or drink allowed in our studio.
Snacks are only allowed in the snack room (Parents – this includes you. Please set the example). Students should go
to the bathroom before class.
HAIR AND ATTIRE: Hair must be tied back & out of the face for
all classes. No big shirts or street
clothes will be allowed. Students will be asked to take them off if worn to
class. Children must have proper dance attire and shoes for all classes. Please
put names on all shoes, bags, etc.
CLEANLINESS: Students must wash dance wear after each wearing.
Be sure to check for need of deodorant. It is very offensive to dance next to
someone with body odor.
PARENTS: Persons visiting our studio must sit quietly.
Parents are to control their children. Do not allow them to stand on
chairs. Persons visiting our studio
must sit quietly. Only persons attending class or invited to watch are permitted
in the studios during class time. No running up and down our hallways.
This is a place of business not a playground.
Sorry, due to FIRE REGULATIONS, no baby carriages are allowed in the
studio. Also, we do not have room for our students to move about when
carriages are inside. Please do not open
classroom doors or adjust blinds when class is in session (this is very
distracting to both students and teachers). Students should be dropped off a
few minutes before class and picked up immediately after the class is over.
PARKING: As parking is limited, some people park in front
of the Studio. This is a safety hazard for the children and is not allowed.
Traffic passing through the area cannot see someone crossing the driveway if a
car blocks their vision. Please park in the parking spaces. Do not double park
in front of the studio or another business.
This can be a hazard for small children who can’t be seen if a car is
double parked.
ATTENDANCE: Regular class attendance and participation is required by
all students. A student's personal progress as well as class performance is a
reflection of proper attendance. There are no refunds for missed lessons. You
may make-up missed classes by attending another class suitable for you. Make-up
classes must be made up within one month's time. You must notify the front desk about any
make up classes.
Please call or send a note if your
dancer will be absent or late so we can inform the instructor.
Due to the nature of exercise and physical
training, Dance Gallery will not be held accountable for any personal injury
sustained during the course of class or in and around its premises.
Pre-existing medical conditions or injuries, which may affect a dancer in
class, should be brought to the teacher's attention, in writing, at the
beginning of each season.

RECITALS
RECITAL For more than a decade, Dance Gallery has
provided students with an exciting performance experience through its year end
recital. This gives the students a chance to shine in front of family and
friends that they anticipate with nervous excitement. The recital offers our
students a professionally directed performance that allows them to present to
their family and friends the results of a year's hard work and progress.
A big part of the dance training process
includes learning through performance. This experience helps build self-esteem,
self-assurance and contributes to a sense of confidence. The rehearsal process
is a tremendous learning experience as well. It helps the children develop
retention skills and by working with their classmates on a group performance,
they learn the positive aspects of working as a team to create the best end
result.
Dedication to recital commitments is the
responsibility of both students and their parents.

RECITAL UPDATES: As the season progresses, additional information
or updates will be posted on the website, in monthly newsletters, and on the
school bulletin board and emails. Make
it your responsibility to keep abreast of this important information. It is our
goal to make the recital experience organized and exciting for all involved. It
is a team effort: students, their parents, the teachers, office staff and director
are all key players in the success of the show.
HOME STUDY: We ask parents to encourage the students to
practice at home on a regular basis. A copy of your child's music may be
purchased at the studio. The cost is $3.00 for first song and $1.00 for each
additional song.
RECITAL FEE: There is a $40.00 recital fee per family. Each family
will receive two tickets with their recital fee –they can only be used for one recital show. Other tickets may be purchased
at a cost of $15.00 if purchased at Dance Gallery and $18.00 if purchased at
the show. ***This applies to our big
recital years only (odd years).
COSTUMES: We spend many hours determining the correct
costumes for each class. They are always age appropriate and of the highest
quality possible. Preschool students will need one costume: all other students
will need one costume for each subject they train in. Costumes include
accessories such as hats, gloves, etc. Shoes and tights are to be purchased
separately.
COSTUME FEES: Any special orders (x-tra large
costumes) may require an additional charge (determined by the company).
Additional charges are the sole responsibility of the parent.
DEPOSITS: In an effort to ensure that costumes are delivered in
time for school photographs and organized distribution to our students, costume
orders are placed during the December holiday break. Costume manufacturers do
not accept cancellations or offer refunds, therefore, Dance Gallery does not
refund costume deposits.
DEPOSIT SCHEDULE: Your costume fee will be broken into four payments. The
dates are listed on the calendar.
**NO COSTUME WILL BE ORDERED UNTIL PAID IN FULL. **
Parents accept full responsibility for all expenses, including surcharges and
postage for costumes that are ordered late. Dance Gallery is not responsible if
costumes are not received in time for the recital due to late payments.
SIZING: All children will be measured as according to the date
on the calendar. Any changes will be posted and sent via email. During the
first week of December you will be required to sign a confirmation form stating
that you agree with the
size(s) to be ordered for your child. You can make
changes on the form, however, your signature indicates
that you take full responsibility for any costume alterations that may be
needed for your child's costume(s).
DISTRIBUTION: Costumes will be distributed when all outstanding
balances have been paid in full. (tuition, recital
fees, costumes). The deadline for all balances is April 10th (this includes May
tuition) All payments made after April 10th must be made in cash. Photos will
be taken as scheduled on calendar (subject to change).
WITHDRAWAL: No refunds will be made if a student withdraws after
costumes have been ordered. Parent may pick up costumes at the school at the
time of distribution up to 15 days after the performance. Costumes not picked
up will be donated to charity.
REHEARSAL: The rehearsal allows the students to become familiar
with a big stage and feel comfortable with their performance and being on stage.
Blocking, music cues and other logistics for an organized and professional
performance are rehearsed at this time so that the students can make the best
impression possible. Participation in the rehearsal is MANDATORY. We run an organized and timely rehearsal.
Your help with the process will guarantee a professional production.
Please arrive on time!! Rehearsals are closed: no parents or spectators will be
allowed in the auditorium. One parent per pre-schooler
will be allowed in the auditorium, however, NO SIBLINGS allowed.
FINALE: All students are required to participate
in the finale, which will be rehearsed during the last month of classes. A
run-through of the finale will take place at the rehearsal. All students will
remain in their last costume for the finale.

backstage. All students will remain backstage for the entire show--NO
EXCEPTIONS. All students and Parents will be given pick-up instructions prior
to the performance.

Show Rules and
Regulations
No food or drinks
in the auditorium. Doors will open ˝ hour prior to
show time. All seats are assigned.
*All
children will remain backstage for the entire show, including the
"babies". No exceptions.*
Absolutely no
jewelry is to be worn by any child. Dance Gallery is not responsible for any
lost or stolen items.
Our first and primary concern is for the safety and
well being of all children. This can only be accomplished if the parents help
us by following all the rules. All children will participate in the finale and
will be released to one parent backstage after the show is over. If only one
parent comes to the stage door, it will make the release process go much
faster.
While my staff and I would like to see all the
children participate in the recital, we ask that if you are not willing to
abide by all the rules that you do not let your child participate. Thank you in
advance for making this a fun and exciting experience for your child.
